TEA URN
8ft tall tea urn created for film project,’Common Ground’. The urn had to steam and make noises as well as be able to pour tea. Each section of the tea urn was to represent differnt teas eg: camomile, earl grey, green tea. The main structure was made from timber;
sheet metal was used for the exterior; brass, copper, aluminium; all other pieces were found at boot fairs.

   

CLOCKTOWER
14ft tall clocktower created for film project,’Common Ground’. The design required the clocktower to be able to hold up to four actors to give each clockface a different character. Construction is mainly MDF (as had to be erected and dismantled 5 times in one day); face holes/clockfaces were made from neoprene; textured paint using sand and pva was used for the final coat.

   

SHERMAID
13ft tall animated creature created for film project,’Common Ground’. Built using a steel and aluminium framework, the entire body was on a central bearing and was able to move in 3 dimensions. The arms were operated by actors.
Her outer skin was made using neoprene (wetsuit material) one of the shots called for her to rise out of the sea so she had to be fairly waterproof.
